CHIEF'S KIDS 2010
Alcohol/Drug Abuse Prevention Coalition
Partnering with the Chief of Police, NorthStar Church leads the Alcohol/Drug Abuse Prevention Coalition in developing "The Chief's Kids". This ministry focuses on the five truths each week: Christ, Character, Community, Citizenship & Challenge. The Children earn coalition cash each week. Our target age is K-5th. The children spend the "Coalition Cash" in the fall to get backpacks filled with school supplies and at Christmas they spend what they have earned to buy Christmas presents.
The Chief's Kids began during the fall of 2007 at the Springdale Village Apt. complex. God blessed us with more volunteers and Hunt Memorial Methodist Church partnered with the Alcohol/Drug Abuse Prevention Coalition to form the Chief's Kids in Rice Terrace, in June of 2008. With the success of Chief's Kids, the word spread to Damascus, Va. and then the Sheriff's Kids began in August, 2008, at Settler's Point Apartment Complex. The Chief's Kids meets in Bristol every Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the Springdale Village Apartment Complex, and Eastridge Apartments, while the Bristol Housing Authority meets at 6:00 p.m. The Sheriff's Kids in Damascus meets at 6:00 p.m. at Settler's Point. We hope that 2011 will see more boys and girls come to know Christ! Please volunteer and be blessed!
