Alcohol/Drug Abuse Prevention Coalition
Partnering with the Chief of Police, NorthStar leads the Alcohol/Drug Abuse Prevention Coalition in developing "The Chief's Kids". This ministry focuses on the five truths each week: Christ, Character, Community, Citizenship & Challenge. Our target age is K-5th. Chief's Kids meets every Monday at 6:00.m. in Springdale Apartment Complex, and now in Bristol Housing Authority. "Sheriff's Kids" will begin in August in Damascus, Virginia.
Bristol Faith in Action works to provide a witness of Christian unity in service and a sign of God's love in and for our community; and to recognize and serve the needy of our community as Christ invites us to do. Bristol Faith in Action is supported by their member churches as well as The United Way of Bristol, generous individuals, business and organizations in our local community. Volunteers are needed. Share your time, talent and compassion with Bristol Faith in Action. Participate by assisting in the office, interviewing clients and or promoting BFIA in the community. Visit their website at www.bristolfaithinaction.org for more information.
Bristol Outreach’s mission is to reach out to children, youth, and adults in urban Bristol. We serve all socioeconomic and racial backgrounds. Our mission is to provide opportunities for personal and spiritual growth in a safe environment. Our goal is for people of all ages to grow in the love and understanding of Jesus Christ.
Children meet on Sunday Evenings. A snack supper is provided for all children. The evening is filled with bible study, games, music, and a time of worship. The ministry begins each Sunday at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m. An invitation is extended to all children, youth, and adults in the Bristol area.
Volunteering at The Hospice House will give you an opportunity to minister to the terminally ill patients as well as minister to the families. We have a unique opportunity to share our faith by cooking meals, working in the kitchen, or just sitting with the family members. Our church will be serving The Hospice House in November.
We collect food items the entire month of October. This repenlishes their pantry and enables them to help those in need. Please click on Haven of Rest to read more about their ministry.
Fall Festival
This is a safe, Christian alternative to Halloween. Since the beginning of NorthStar we have invited the community to join us for a night of fun, food, games, prizes, hayrides, face painting, etc. The Fall Festival always takes place on October 31st.
