"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8
OUR JUDEA
Each year we connect with the Virginia Baptist Children's Home. Through a special offering in May, we can help those who are providing a Christian environment, to children who have been displaced.
Bob and Sandra Jackson, were Adult Sunday School teachers in our church, when God called them to start NorthStar Blacksburg. As they minister to the students at Virginia Tech, we have a great opportunity to help Bob and Sandra, through prayer support and the International Student Dinner each fall. We can help Bob and Sandra welcome the international students to the campus with this dinner. A door is then opened for them to share the love of Christ.

THE WORLD
The Boeves
Tom and Jolene Boeve have arrived in Africa. Tom is an ear, nose and throat surgeon and will be at AIC Kijabe Hospital where he will be training African surgeons as a faculty member of the Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons. Tom, Jolene and their children will be in Kijabe, Kenya, about one hour east of Nairobi. They are still in the process of raising their support. They will be serving under Africa Inland Mission (AIM). NorthStar Church held a commissioning service for The Boeve's on Sunday, September 27th. If you would like to support the Boeve's please contact them at tjboeve@aimint.net. We will celebrate "Christmas in September" to collect gifts for the Boeve family in order to get them mailed to Africa by Christmas.

Gerri Helton
Along with the over 5,000 IMB missionaries we support through the Cooperative Program we are privileged at NorthStar to have one of our own serving as an IMB missionary in Zambia. Our own Gerri Helton serves as an IMB missionary in Zambia. Each September we celebrate "Christmas in September", where we collect Christmas gifts and send to Gerri in Zambia. In addition to Gerri, we support all our international missionairies through "The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering." In 2009 our church collected $6,753 to send to the IMB. "Praise The Lord !!! "

World Mission Conference
Each September, we hold a world Missions Conference. Our theme is "Around the World and Around The Block." We bring in missionaries who are home on furlough or who have retired from the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. We also have speakers from local mission organizations that our church supports.
In November, our church collected 203 shoe boxes for Samaritan's Purse, located in Boone, NC. Our church has participated in preparing the cartons for shipping around the word for the last five years. Our goal for 2010 is 200 shoeboxes.
Jerusalem Assembly
This year our Bridge Team is adding Jerusalem Assembly. They are a group of Evangelical Christians sharing the Gospel of Christ in Jerusalem. The Jerusalem Assembly was started by our friend, Zvi Kalisher, a survivor of the Holocaust.
