Dr. William "Bill" Houck served as the Senior Pastor of NorthStar Church. He retired on April 30, 2023 and is the Founding Pastor of our church. Our church family will always grateful for the service that the Houck Family contributed to our church.
A native of New Castle, Pennsylvania, he, along with his wife Susie, have been in full-time ministry since 1981 and felt the Lord calling him to begin NorthStar in 1998. In addition to his work in the church and community, Pastor Bill has a heart for missions and has made several trips to Romania, Russia, Israel, and France. The Houck's have called Bristol home for 25 years and when not at the church, you can find them spending time with their family.

OUR TEAM
Ian Fowler serves as the Pastor at NorthStar Church.

A native of Bristol, Tennessee, he and his wife, Lakyn, have been in ministry for several years and felt the Lord calling him to NorthStar. In addition to his work in the church and community, Pastor Ian also served in the Army Reserves. He is currently studying at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. When he is out in the community sharing the Gospel, he spends time with his family.

John Hubbard serves as our Director of Youth at NorthStar.
A graduate of Montreat College, John has a heart for our Youth. A devoted teacher and coach, John has dedicated his life to investing in the children and Youth of tomorrow. John is currently pursuing his Master's Degree at Liberty University Rawlings School of Divinity. He resides with his wife Hannah and their growing family in the Tri-Cities.

Glen Booher serves as our Building Superintendent at NorthStar.
Glen, his wife Jackie, and their family have been a part of our NorthStar family from the start. Glen not only keeps our building in top shape, but he also keeps us laughing. Most importantly, Glen's kind heart shines through in everything he does.

Gary Breeding serves as the Associate Pastor of NorthStar Church.

In addition to overseeing our Youth and Children's ministries, Gary works directly with our deacons and administrators to ensure the full operation of the Church. Gary has a heart for the community and dedicates time to providing outreach to our local schools, businesses, and organizations. A native of Grundy, Gary has a master's degree from Liberty Unversity. In his spare time, you can find Gary and his wife Crystal, cheering on their favorite college basketball player - their daughter.

Emily Mays serves as our Children's Director at NorthStar.
Emily has been a faithful member of NorthStar since the very beginning 25 years ago. A graduate of Wytheville Community College, Emily is dedicated to teaching and shaping our NorthStar kids. She is also an accomplished businesswoman and talented baker. We are thrilled to welcome Emily into this well-deserved role.

Ricky Chafin serves as the Administrator over Personnel at NorthStar.
Ricky and his wife Teresa have been faithful members of NorthStar for over two decades. A "retired" plant manager, Ricky directly supports our Executive Staff in his role as an Administrator. When not working, Ricky can be found eating out for less than $10 and planning his next cruise vacation.

Jason Fuller serves as an Administrator at NorthStar.

Jason and his family have been at NorthStar for several years. In addition to his administrative role, Jason manages and operates the largest Walgreens in our area, and is a member of our Praise Team. Jason and his wife, Amy, have three children and reside in the Tri-Cities.

Chase King serves as an Administrator at NorthStar.
Chase and his wife, Jessica, have been at NorthStar for over 10 years. A finance man, a gunsmith, and an accomplished shooter, Chase also teaches concealed carry classes in his spare time. When not working, Chase and Jessica can be found spending time with their family and their loyal GSD.

Jackie Booher serves as a co-chair of the Hospitality Committee at NorthStar.
Jackie and her husband Glen have been faithful members of NorthStar for two decades. Jackie is always one of the first to volunteer, lend a hand, or offer support to someone in need. In addition to co-chairing the Hospitality Committee, she is also a member of the Offering Counting Team. NorthStar would not be the same without her smiling face and giving spirit.

Syliva Bowden serves as the director of the NorthStar Women's Ministry.
Sylvia, her husband Henry, have dedicated their lives to helping others. In addition to her volunteer work and work at NorthStar, Sylvia began and operated the successful nonprofit, Bristol Outreach, which focused on helping inner-city children.

Greg Edens serves as our church Treasurer at NorthStar.
Greg has faithfully served as NorthStar's treasurer for 25 years. A retired licensed CPA, Greg is our go-to source for all things financial (and computer)! When he's not counting numbers, Greg is spoiling his 7 grandchildren, riding his motorcycle, or attending a concert.

Darlene Hartsock serves as the Nursery Director at NorthStar.
Our tiniest NorthStar members are always safe in the arms of Ms. Darlene. Since the very beginning of NorthStar, Ms. Darlene has been there for our NorthStar kids with open arms. So much so, the church has earned the nickname, "Darlene's House" amongst the kids. When she isn't caring for our NorthStar kids, she is looking doting on her own three grandchildren.

Jane Lucas serves as a co-chair of our NorthStar hospitality team.
Jane has been at NorthStar for the past several years. She is a dedicated member of our Widow's Ministry as well as our sign-language team. Jane's work ethic and giving spirit work hand-in-hand to help her co-lead our Hospitality Team! In her spare time, you can find her spending time with her beautiful children and beloved grandchildren.

Joel McClure serves as Head of Security at NorthStar.
If you are a first-time visitor, one of the first people you can expect to meet is Joel. Joel oversees our security team and maintains patrol during our services to ensure our safety. Joel and his family have faithfully served NorthStar for 25 years. When he's not on duty, you can find Joel causing some kind of trouble or planning his next trip to Disney.

Crystal Breeding serves as Student Ministries Liaison at NorthStar.
We all know Crystal is the power behind Gary! But in addition to that role, Crystal is also an instrumental key player in both our Youth and Children's ministries. Crystal has a heart for the Lord, for our community, and for our NorthStar kids and youth. When she isn't working, Crystal is cheering on her daughter (and cheering on Gary)!
